Historical and culturally rich tours in a country with magnificent landscapes

Top class experience in Serbia thanks to Belgrade Walking Tours. Originally we were going to do just a city break for a couple days in Belgrade but we changed our booking to be a week long so we could see other parts of Serbia as well (using Belgrade as a base & booking tours through Belgrade Walking Tours) We emailed with Milos ahead of our trip to share with him our interests so that he could propose a perfect itinerary for us. We started on day 1 with the walking tours down town & 20th century by tour guide Stefan who was very knowledgeable and presented in a fun , engaging way. Great way to learn how to get around Belgrade & work out which museums/ places of interest we would visit later on in the week. Milos was our tour guide for the other trips - friendly tour guide who provided us with super insightful perspectives on history, culture, environment of Serbia. We did the Uvac hiking excursion which was a lot of fun & the hike provided us with outstanding views of the canyon & the vultures flying overhead. We also took the trip to Danube River. Incredible to see Lepenski Vir, an ancient settlement 8000 BC archeological site, which we knew nothing about until now. Also to hike in the National Park with spectacular views of Danube & also to visit Golubac fortress, learning all about its history including its story from AustiaHungary & the Ottoman times. The other tour we took was Pannonian tour which included ethnically diverse & historical Novi Sad (2nd largest city) ; wine cellar visit & a visit to an exceptionally interesting Krusedol monastery learning about the history of Serb Orthodox religion during Ottoman times. There is so much to see & do in Serbia, beyond just the typical weekend trip in Belgrade. Lots of interesting cultural & historical sites & lots of fun places to visit too. People were all welcoming & friendly. Top tip: contact Milos in advance to plan an itinerary and try to stay there for a week if you can
